Shakugan no Shana-tan Revenge – URUCHAI URUCHAI URUCHAI!!!

OMGZ! Shana-tan ish backz! And what a sight to see coming as an extra in the first volume of the new OVA series Shakugan no Shana S! JC Staff really pulled through this Shana-tan episode by using all of its resources. You’ll know why soon…

To start things off, as I haven’t really made a Shana post here before (except for that news post that many anonymous jump to lately…), let’s start with a brief personal history. I’ve known and dashed through the episodes (+manga) of Shana back in July-ish 2008 and immediately fell in love with this series. The character designs, Shana, the original and flawless plot, Shana, the endless possible pairings, Shana, and lastly the interesting terminology used in this series. Oh and did I forget about Shana? In fact, it’s on my Top 10 if you haven’t looked at it yet. And further proof of this I was actually quite surprised that I had gone and watched all 48 episodes (including specials, Shana-tans and Movie) all in one month (being August), setting all my homework and stuff aside and procrastinating a few days before the return of school (no kidding).

Now moving back to the main topic, Shakugan no Shana-tan Revenge is the newly released pre-equal to the previous Shana-tan spoofs of the main series. Making fun of various scenes from the series and constantly breaking the fourth wall all condensed into 4-8 minutes of epic lolz. Even so a fellow patriot, To Aru Majutsu no Index continues the “-tan” sage with the 2-episode spoof known as “To Aru Majutsu no Index-tan”.

Spanning for 2 episodes (I believe) and pretty much the same as the Shana-tans, making fun of several scenes from the series and… not much cross overs I think and lasting at a neat duration of 8-9 minutes in each (whereas in Shana-tan its all over the place). I believe I have a summary post on the second Index-tan episode some hidden in the archives…

This “Revenge” episode, in my opinion, is the best in the spoof series yet. Including many cameos and crossovers JC Staff has in its Projects library. Well, only 3. That is Hayate no Gotoku! (as they now acclaimed rights for the animation production), ie. Nagi… or “Nagi-tan”  appearing to be cosplaying Shana-tan, To Aru Majutsu no Index, ie. Shana-tan and Index-tan at the end arguing why Index appeared in their show, thereby braking the 4th wall yet again, and even Toradora!, including a reference to a scene in one of the episodes and the Tenori Tiger holding Alistair in its mouth at the end, humming the 2nd ending of Toradora which didn’t completely sound right.

Not only the crossovers but also including a spin-off segment of “Naze, Nani Shana” lessons, where Bel Peol (I think) lectures err… neither Shana-tan or Yuuji about certain aspects that took place in the main series. Personally I had no idea what they where saying as I pretty much completely forgotten all the terminology used in the series. Hey, it has been 1 year right? Well time for some Wiki’ing.

But in the meantime, enjoy this long selection of screenshots I took. (Hey! I know how to capture screen shots with soft subs! Go me 8D)

fff
Its err... Nagi-tan!
fff
Of course, the trademark "Uruchai" returns.
fff
Not forgetting the endless Bakas...
fff
lol Hayate...
fff
Yuuji is confused by what Nagi-tan just referred to.
fff
Okay, it really is Nagi-tan.
fff
Insert for people's enlightened sighs and groans here.
fff
Okay you gotta call this Animal Cruelty or something...
fff
The 1st part of the weird lectures segment.
fff
Talking about when Hecate does the "pipipi" sound. Have no idea what she's saying.
fff
Yuuji intelligently replying when I totally bet he has no idea what she's saying either.
fff
This made no sense. Period.
fff
Some reference to some Mc Donalds Happy Meal toy thing.

fff

fff
Consider this... a nightmare.
fff
Second part of the Lecture thing, this time focusing upon the climax of the second season, when Hecate extracted the Maigo thing out of Yuuji (sorry if I spoiled anyone)
fff
Way'da go.
fff
Salman roe... might try that.

fff

fff
I'm... pretty sure that you can help her even without your glasses.
fff
Refer to Toradora! Episode 9/10 for the joke.
fff
BOOM! And the dirt is gone! Wait, that's Bang...
fff
There's a telephone pole in the school?
fff
Final Lecture Segment part, not really a lecture this time.
fff
Insert some kicking and punching sound effects here.
fff
Dunno what really happened here...

fff

fff
INDEXX-TANN!!!
fff
A meeting that never should have occurred. Guess where I got that saying from.

fff

fff
Yeah you tell her Index!!
fff
I've always wondered why there was a tattoo on her eye... D.Gray-Man reference?
fff
The Uruchai torment continues...

fff

fff
Tiamat again refers to the actual character's voice actors...
fff
The ending sequence of the Palmtop Tiger humming the 2nd ending of Toradora while holding Alistair in its mouth. Simply amazing.

In other news also included in the Shakugan no Shana S Volume 1 package there seems to be ANOTHER Shana-tan episode called “Shakugan no Shana-tan G” currently it is officially subbed so expect another post on that later on…

PS. Shakugan no Shana S Episode 1 coming up shortly

PSS. London Expo begins tomorrow =D But I’m going the day after -_-
