Shonen Ace

During my time at the London MCM Expo a several days ago, I visited the Japan Center now at Regent Street in Central to see the fresh “redesigned” and “expanded” store. Only to had been saddened by the fact that even though the inside had been renovated to be more “authentic”, the size of the interior seems to be smaller than the old shop! While the lower level of the shop had been removed, all the imported manga I have been ever so desperate to buy (coughhayatenogotokucough) have vanished!

Even though this was a huge let down, the place did offer a small section you’d find in a newsagents a magazine/newspaper/books (even though there weren’t any books) section. And to compensate the absent Hayate no Gotoku Raws and Newtype (apparently they are sold out of those) I brought the recent July issue of Shonen Ace! With an added bonus of a pillow cover (not a dakimakura…sadly) of Ikaros from Sora no Oto! To emphasize this month’s SnO 39th chapter with colour pages (as seen above).

And no, there was no June issue of Gangan featuring the last evar chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist…*shiku* *shiku*

The animu (or should I say mangu) pillow in question;

The front, featuring Ikaros (NSFW)

The back, featuring chibi-Ikaris (SFW)

Flick through the pages of Shonen Ace, I’ve noticed a few familiar series that I’ve seen or read before on the internets and the rest entirely new that seems to have captivated my tastes.

Familiar series include;

  • Sora no Otoshimono
  • Code Geass (apparently a new manga series based on the original concept has started serialising this month)
  • Nichijou
  • Evangelion
  • Keroro
  • Baka Test
  • Haruhi Suzumiya
  • Haruhi-chan
  • R-15
  • GENEZ
  • Fate/stay night

Now presenting (and for me to shut up) the all 114 shots I took from significant pages of this month’s issue;

Warning: Contains a few NSFW pics
