SEASON 2 CONFIRMED OR SEASON 2 CONFIRMED?
In a parallel universe; JC Staff animates “The Boy I Like in My Class Becomes My Personal Butler!?”
Of course, only Hayate knows how to shape-shift ordinary objects and equipment into sharp and pointy weapons.
Okay, I take back what I said about half a year ago when I claimed Manglobe hated the Hamster, this episode was just pure brilliance. It was such a spectacle to see so many Ayumu reaction faces in the lapse of twenty-four minutes. The scariest thing however is that I couldn’t find a single quality frame of Hamster, or anyone else for that matter at all this episode. I believe after this week my ranking for best studio for Hayate has been updated to ‘SynergySP > Manglobe > JC Staff’ if we exclude CTMEOY.
Ayumu’s episode adapts her Birthday arc in the 281st and 282nd chapter of the manga, as well as chapter 347 taking elements of Ayumu’s concerns about her weight. In the second part of the episode sees the chapter (I forgot which one ;_;) where Hayate and Ayumu go to Shiomi High School to retrieve Ayumu’s notebook she left behind, only to get attacked by a random boss. This was also the chapter where Hayate teases he might have gone for the Hamster if he continued life without his parent’s money spending and gambling addiction, and if he didn’t meet Nagi on that fateful night. Hell if Hata went with that generic plot line in an alternate world Hayate no Gotoku! would probably be a rom-com light novel series starring Ayumu and Hayate. A fine selection of chapters I’d say, but the least they could have picked was the chapter explaining how Hamster had moved into the Violet mansion, I almost forgot she was living in there until now.
I found it funny when Ayumu pulled up those pair of shades in the cafe because it was the exact same shades she worn in the Golden Week Arc in the manga. Ah I just love it when Manglobe pulls the “You’d like the Golden Week Arc to be animated, wouldn’t you?” card.
I also suggest you go and have a listen to the full Cuties OP since the single is out now, and I have to admit Shizuka did a cracking job at it. The B-side of the single also serves as Hina’s ED in the fifth episode. We’ll probably get a character song album featuring all the rest of the EDs after this season or, if they’re stingy, come in batches in each BD volume.
This was the first time I had so much
fun enjoyment watching Hayate no Gotoku! in a long, long while.
And now, enjoy this Hamster-ific collage.
